Where possible Good Deals 2010 uses suppliers that are environmentally friendly and operate with a social mission.
The information in the Good Deals delegate packs will be printed on recycled paper using vegetable based inks.
The IET Venues group is committed to reducing its impact on the environment, and as such IET London: Savoy Place has adopted the following approaches to reduce its environmental impact:
- It operates an on-site water purification system to eliminate unnecessary water bottle transportation
- It recycles paper, glass, cardboard, cooking oil, printer cartridges and cans
- It rigorously turns off all lighting and air conditioning when not in use
- It uses low energy light bulbs wherever possible
- It uses Fairtrade products for all teas and coffees throughout
The Good Deals pricing policy is designed to help those that cannot afford it to access the conference. In addition, there are a range of free and half price places under a bursary scheme, and a corporate ticket package through which a business can sponsor a ticket for a social entrepreneur.
Social Enterprise commits more than 90 per cent of profits towards its social goals in supporting the sector. The Good Deals conference and the RBS SE100 index, our index of top 100 high growth social businesses, are key recipients of this support. This year, with help from the Future Jobs Fund, we have also been able to provide a job with training and support to a young person who has been long-term unemployed, to help him take his first steps towards a career as a journalist.
